Vol. III

Another day another baddie's wants and needs,
lately i’ve been thinking about completely changing — or i guess upgrading — my room, and i’m sooo excited about it. i’ve always loved two completely different aesthetics, so instead of choosing between them, i decided i want to mix both together: y2k bedroom vibes + vintage princess bedroom vibes ♡

basically, i want my room to feel like a slightly dramatic little princess room from the early 2000s hehe.

one thing i’ve wanted for the longest time is a canopy bed. unfortunately, like literally everything pretty, the ones i like are suuuper expensive 😭 so instead of buying one already made, i’ve decided i’m just going to DIY the canopy bed of my dreams.

i’ve already been looking around for canopy bed poles and found a few different options. i decided i’m probably going to go with steel poles because they’re sturdy, affordable, and honestly it doesn’t really matter what they look like since i’m planning to cover them completely anyway. they look like this:

for the actual canopy, i want it to look super layered, soft, and a little dramatic ♡

i’m planning on thrifting most of the fabric i use because i feel like that’ll make it look way more unique, and hopefully save me some money too. one of the main fabrics i’m looking for is that really light, flowy mesh material — kind of like mosquito netting. i want to use mostly light pink and red for that part.

i also want LOTS of lace.

lace can get weirdly expensive when you buy it as regular fabric, so one little trick i’ve been using is searching for things like lace tablecloths or lace curtains instead. you can sometimes find really pretty ones while thrifting, and sites like Temu, SHEIN, and sometimes even Amazon have cheap options too. i’m planning on getting lace in pink, red, and white so i can layer it around the canopy poles and mix it in with the mesh fabric.

i also want to add pearl strings all around the canopy, both inside and outside, because i feel like that’s what’s really going to give it that princess-y look i’m imagining.

i’m aware this probably sounds like a chaotic pile of lace, pearls, and fabric right now LOL, but i swear i can see the vision in my head 😭 once i finally gather everything and put it together, i’ll obviously post the final result so you guys can see what i meant.

for now, i’ll just leave some of my inspo pics here ♡

i’m also planning on getting a black bookshelf for all of my books, plus some of my favorite heels and bags. i want to keep most of my furniture black because my bedframe is black velvet and basically everything else in my room is already black too. i feel like keeping the furniture dark will make all the lace, pearls, pinks, and reds stand out even more.

sooo yeah… this might end up being one of my biggest room projects yet, but i’m honestly so excited to start collecting everything and slowly turn my room into exactly what i’ve always wanted ♡

hopefully soon i’ll be sleeping inside my little y2k princess canopy dream 😭🎀

see u in the next daydream ★
xoxo, izzy ♡
